Talked to a lot of patients these past few days. Media exposure definitely helped increase the number of consults. Telemedicine is on fire.

The Department of Health called for volunteer health care workers to man COVID-19 referral centers. They will provide housing, food and P500 per day. I had heard about this before but even with 0 pay I still considered volunteering for this. The way they advertised this was just in bad taste. Factor in the recent ruling that the president gets to have extra powers, more budget and more control to help health care in the country, it made me wonder why they can't even afford to allocate minimum wage to the people they are asking to risk their own lives, these "healthcare warriors". In other countries, nurses were offered around $50000 a month for volunteering in high risk areas. Our very own LGUs would even offer to increase hazard pay out of their own budget. To know that this how the national leaders officially call for volunteers is just unbelievable. I'm very sad to know that this is how the government prioritizes healthcare in this country. The public outcry also proves that there is great distrust in government. What I know for sure is that frontliners will continue to fight despite the lack of support.

The USA surpassed China as the country with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Today is April Fools Day. We get news that some citizens of Sitio San Roque, Quezon City have grown restless with hunger. They went to EDSA to ask for food from their LGU. Instead, they were met with military men who started using force and arresting some of them. They were just hungry people who had nothing to eat.

Today is April Fools Day. The NBI issued an order against the popular Mayor Vico Sotto, who has been serving his constituents since Day 1. Because he spoke against a directive against having public transportation, (he wanted tricycles to be allowed to assist dialysis patients, elderly etc, to the hospitals), he is now the administration's target. Despite supposedly being a non-issue because Vico Sotto complied with national orders anyway, the NBI still demanded for an explanation of his act violating the BaHO (Bayanihan to Heal as One Act) which was enacted 5 days after the incident. The Philippine constitution states Article III, Section 22: No ex post facto law or bill of attainder shall be enacted. #ProtectVico hashtag trends #1 worldwide.

Today is April Fools Day. President Duterte all of a sudden decided to have another address. Instead of compassion for the people who were hungry, he orders the military to seek them out and shoot them on sight. Instead of bringing comfort to the Filipinos and focusing on healing the sick, he orders more killings.
